Sailing on Heavy Seas? Journey With Us As We Begin Again.
Sailing on Heavy Seas? Are You Starting Over?
Here you will discover a place of New Beginnings.
" In Life What Sometimes Appears To Be The End Is Really A New Beginning."
She was a dream that's why Mariner was purchased. Skippered first by Ted Turner and Dennis Connor. A 12 meter America's Cup sloop built in 1974. Mariner's transition from racer to a world cruiser took one man years to rebuild.
Mariner had an aluminum hull. She was gutted, restored and
set for her maiden voyage. But hurricane Lili with 15-20' waves set Mariner down behind a reef on a Florida beach. Towing company, hole in hull, October 1999 arbitration board awarded $5000.00 for the total loss of Mariner. The case was active for 4-1/2 years.
New Beginnings Builders was a solely female owned general contracting business. Eighteen years of hands on experience with fire and water restoration and commercial projects. For 3-1/2 years she built a contracting business which had established clients, projects and employees. Until one day.
August 1999, time stood still as the doctor reported the results: she had cancer. Hit with divorce, cancer surgery, closing down the business, laid up for weeks on end.
One woman moved 1050 miles away to Florida with one man.
Eye to eye she said, "Why don't we just build a sail boat?"
Our website is based on the journey of one man and one woman. Here you will learn how a friendship of 23 years was challenged when we designed and built "hands on" our 65' custom-built Aluminum Sail Boat.
2007 is the year of completion. All cutting, grinding and welding on this project was done by us.
Even if you would rather not have sea legs,
come with us and stay a while. We will share with you what we have learned.
