Boat Refrigeration Holding Plate Made Clearer...

Boat refrigeration holding plate is a box container... an example is a car or boat battery, instead of storing electricity it stores a liquid.

It is a rechargeable block of ice, like a blue ice pack...it has a cooling liquid inside.

Inside the plate there is a refrigerant and it passes through a coil, this lowers the temperature in the plate. This makes the plate freeze solid.

Like car batteries they come in all shapes and sizes. Use the largest holding plate that you are able to fit in your ice box.

Make sure when you purchase your boat refrigeration holding plate it is rated for a low freezing temperature. All plates are not created equal, there is one kind for the refrigerator and one kind for the freezer. Check the refrigerant...

It should have a freezing point way below water and melt at a certain temperature or degree to maintain frig temperature.

When you are installing one make sure you find a place that is high as possible in the ice box. The cold air will fall to the bottom and keep everything from the bottom of the box up to the holding plates position.

We have 3 holding plates, we have 2 in the freezer (we are big ice cream eaters) and 1 in the refrigerator.

Key: make sure your holding plate isn't so big it won't fit through the opening in your ice box.

Key: Check to see what type of refrigerant is in the plates "eutectic solution" or "anti-freeze" solution

Boating refrigeration holding plate can seem confusing at first. I will be adding new reference material as soon as I can on this subject.
