Boat Mattresses...Comfort Counts!

Boat Mattresses come in all shapes and sizes, learn from our mistakes.

Our first order for a 2040 mattress foam was really hard to lay on. Foam has a rating like a lot of other materials.

The rating consists of 4 numbers, the first two numbers are for the quality of the foam. The second set of numbers stand for the hardness of the foam. So if you have 2040, 20 stands for a good grade of foam, 40 stands for how hard the foam is.

The company we bought the boat mattresses from ordered us new foam 1835, it took a couple of weeks. They took our 2040 foam out of the mattress cover and sewed everything up, free of charge. The only thing we bought was the new foam.

Everyone is different and we all like different hardness on the bed we are sleeping on. Close cell foam or boat foam for us we choose not to sleep on. It's like sleeping on the plastic couch covers when I was a kid. Sorry!

If you are planning on going to a mattress company to have your mattresses built we recommend making a pattern out of paper or cardboard. Lay your old cushions down and trace around them.

Bring your drawings with you, this way they have know trouble understanding the sizes and shapes your needing. Irregular shapes are the norm for our boating world.

When you place an order for them don't taper your sides, leave the sides like your daybeds are at home. This way your fitted sheets won't always roll off. The last thing you need is a bad night sleep on your boat. A mattress company can set you up for a nice comfortable night sleep.

Give us your insight and experience with boat mattresses!
