Aluminum Boat Corrosion, "Explained"

Aluminum Boat Corrosion, troubles are nothing new.

Websters dictionary, Aluminum Boat Corrosion, troubles are nothing new.

Websters dictionary,

Galvanism means: electricity produced by chemical action

galvanic means: producing or caused by an electric current; electroplating: to cover with a thin coating of metal by electrolysis
metal compatibility...

Electroplating is simply, the process in which a layer of metallic coating is attached to your base material. Electroplating is the process of eletrical current flowing through the copper (bussing), through a solution onto the metal object (such as) dual exhaust, for your car or truck to be plated.

picture of Rene'e, taken from our job site, installing the copper bussing from the rectifiers to the dipping tanks.

This business, gave us an income, to build "Magic Dragon"

A reason I have brought up galvanic corrosion and electroplating, I believe they provide good visuals and a little deeper insight. Art and I had a bussiness working in the electroplating industry. (silver, nickle, chrome plating, this system is used in cars for dual exhaust, but not limited too.

Our job (most of the time) would be to design- fabricate, install, copper (bussing) bars running from the dipping tanks to the power supply, rectifier.

Just like the electric wiring running through your house walls. These copper bars are called bussing, the bussing is attached to the...

rectifier, (power source).

Eletronic current runs through these bussing copper bars, to the dipping tanks, inside the tank, an electric current produces small pieces of (chrome, silver, nickle) to create a coating or layer on the metal.

Do you feel like your head is going to explode yet?

We are not finished...

Inside of the electical current, are pieces of chrome and they attach themselves to the metal object, being plated.

Aluminum Boat Corrosion is the opposite of what you have just learned. It takes the aluminum away from your boat and leaves the surface pitted.

Corrosion, Takes the aluminum pieces, away from your boat, through electrical current, and leaves the surface pitted.

Dissimilar (differant types of) metals causes, galvanism, or galvanic current. Galvanism plays the primary role in the "boat battery"

Websters Dictionary, Potential means: capable of being or becoming, possible

Differant metals can develop different electrical potentials galvanic ally, the same as your car or boat battery.
